   Candi Cetho - Heritage on the western slopes of Mount Lawu

   
   

   Cetho temple is located at an altitude of 1400 meters on the slopes of Mount Lawu, this temple can only be achieved through a narrow asphalt road, climbed and winding.

   The temple complex is so quiet and the gate (gapura) reminiscent of Bali Island. Religious background of Cetho temple was built in the Hindu kingdom of Majapahit in the final rule King Brawijaya V. Pattern with an array of 13 terraced and courtyard terrace, on the top of staircase similar with the shape of punden prehistoric times.

   Beside for worshiping place of Lord Shiva, the function itself used as a place for ruwatan. In Cetho temple, the symbols and mythology are portrayed through the story of Garudeya Samudramanthana. While Phallus and Vagina symbols can be interpreted as a symbol of creation or rebirth after being freed from the curse.
