    Samarinda Islamic Centre

    Samarinda Islamic Center Mosque is located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan and the foreground of the banks of the Mahakam River. This mosque is a magnificent mosque and the second largest in Southeast Asia after Istiqlal Mosque.

    This mosque has a main building area of 43,500 square meters
    and the location was formerly a land area of the former sawmill property Inhutani I, which then donated to the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.

    The building has seven towers with 99-meter-high. 99 took from Asmaul Husna or the names of God in Islamic belief. The main tower consists of 15 buildings, each floor has approximately 6 meters high. Meanwhile, steps from ground floor to the main floor of the mosque in number has 33 steps. This amount is deliberately equated to one-third the number of beads.

    Beside the main tower,
    on the side of the mosque also has 6 towers. Each 4 in every corner of the mosque as high as 70 meters and 2 towers at the gate as high as 57 meters. Six of the tower is also significant as 6 pillars of faith.
