Obtained from sources,this is the first mosque which founded by Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (1552-1570), before founding the Great Mosque of Banten. From the name most likely this mosque was used Tiong Hoa ethnic for worship.
Vihara Avalokitesvara



Not only the mosques, Islamic Sultanate of Banten was also build Buddhist Monastery, Vihara Avalokitesvara which located to the southwest of Surosowan stand and built in 1652. The building of this temple is a relic of Sultan Syarief Hidayatullah, who married a Chinese princess as the princess come to the Port of Banten.
Monastery was built as a place of worship of the followers of China’s daughter, who then lived in Banten Lama. Currently, Avalokitesvara monastery is one of the oldest temples in Indonesia, which often flooded with pilgrims. With the temple complex between the Mosque of Islamic kingdom in Banten shows high religious tolerance in those days.
When we come to this monastery, Vihara Avalokitesvara is being restored since fire that occurred in 2009 destroy the worship hall of the goddess Quan Im.Spellwijk Fortress



Spellwijk fort used as a monitoring tower directly opposite to the Sunda Strait and also functions as a storage of guns and other defense equipment. The Dutch Colonial built the fortress in 1585 on the ruins of the north side of the city walls of Banten.
Now this historic site in addition used to raising goats of the villagers, and used to play soccer for kids around the old town.
Karangantu Port

In the XVII century long before the port of Sunda Kelapa, first built was Karangantu port in Banten as trade center of the archipelago. At that time, Karangantu has become the largest trading ports in Java and in South East Asia.
In 1596, in Port Karangantu for the first time under the leadership of the Dutch Trade Fleet Cornelis de Houtman. And around the year 1614 there were a number of ships from China who anchored and carry a variety of merchandise from the country.
No more trace of the glory when we look into this port, only fishing boats are moored and quiet atmosphere that engulfs the traces of past history.- END -
